Privacy Policy - the basics

Who I am

I am Natalie Gautier, a freelance hospitality marketing consultant based in Cape Town, South Africa. I operate as a sole proprietor, and I am the responsible party for any personal information collected through this site.

What I collect

When you use the contact form, I collect the details you enter: your first name, last name, email address, phone number if you choose to give it, and whatever you write in the message field. Automatically, when you visit, this site collects standard technical information through Wix, the platform it is built on. This includes your IP address, browser type, device type, the pages you viewed, and how you arrived at the site. This is aggregate visitor data. I use it to understand which pages people read. I do not use it to identify individual visitors. I do not collect special personal information as defined in POPIA, and I do not knowingly collect information from children.

Why I collect it

Contact form details are used for one purpose: to respond to your enquiry and, if we go on to work together, to communicate with you about that work. Technical information is used to understand how the site is performing.

That's it. I do not sell your information, rent it, trade it, or share it with anyone for marketing purposes.

Whether you have to give it

Giving me your details is entirely voluntary. Name, surname and email are marked as required on the form only because I cannot reply to you without them. Phone number is optional.

If you would rather not use the form, you don't have to. There is no consequence beyond my not being able to respond.

Who else has access to it

Wix. This site is built and hosted on Wix, which acts as my operator under POPIA. Wix processes and stores the information you submit on my behalf, on servers that may be located outside South Africa. Wix's terms include contractual commitments regarding data protection and security. You can read how Wix handles data at wix.com/about/privacy. No one else. I do not share your information with any other third party unless I am legally required to do so.

How long I keep it

I keep contact form enquiries for 24 months from the date you send them. The hospitality sales cycle is slow, and a property that enquires this year may come back next year. If we work together, I keep the records relating to that engagement for as long as I am required to for tax and business purposes. You can ask me to delete your information sooner. See "Your rights" below.

How I keep it safe

Your details sit in Wix's systems, protected by their platform security, and in my email. I use strong, unique passwords and two-factor authentication on both. I keep the number of places your information exists as small as I can. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach occurs that creates a real risk to you, I will notify you and the Information Regulator, as POPIA requires.

Cookies

This site uses cookies set by Wix. Some are essential, meaning the site cannot function without them. Others are functional and analytical, and help the platform record visitor numbers and page views. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may stop parts of the site working.

I do not use advertising cookies and I do not track you across other websites.

Marketing

I do not currently send newsletters or marketing emails. If that changes, I will only email you marketing material if you have separately and clearly opted in to receive it. Replying to your enquiry is not marketing, and submitting the contact form is not an opt-in. Any marketing email I ever send will carry a working unsubscribe link.

Your rights

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

• Ask what I hold about you, and get a copy of it

• Correct anything that is wrong, incomplete or out of date

• Ask me to delete it, where I have no lawful reason to keep it

• Object to my processing your information

• Withdraw your consent at any time, which will not affect anything already lawfully done

• Complain to the Information Regulator

Email privacy@nataliegautier.com and tell me what you want. I will confirm receipt within 48 hours and action it within 30 days. There is no charge for a reasonable request.

Complaining to the Regulator

If you are not satisfied with how I have handled your information or your request, you can complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa. Complaints are lodged using POPIA Form 5.

Changes to this policy

If I change how I handle personal information, I will update this page and change the date below. If the change is significant and I hold your details, I will tell you directly.
